Ila Safari Lodge is a true eco-friendly destination offering facilities of the highest quality to a maximum of 24 guests. The lodge is located on the banks of the mighty Kafue River in an area of abundant wildlife and boasts 180-degree views out across the water.
The central boma is simplistic yet boasts dynamic features and is the centrepiece of the property. The lodge features 10 luxury safari tents perched over the Kafue River and fitted with a private deck. These tents are perfect for intimate couples but there are also 2 larger family tents. Each tent has been individually designed to mesh with the flora surrounding it providing shade, privacy and your very own piece of Kafue wilderness.
The interiors, as well as the private decks, are furnished in chic, modern African style and every comfort has been considered. All tents feature en-suite bathrooms and either outside showers or baths. Boasting extra-length beds for extreme comfort. Mosquito nets are spacious and billowing and are turned down for you each evening. Take a dip in the cutting-edge designer pool, dine under the African sky and enjoy mouth-watering cuisine, kick back and enjoy a book or just watch the world go by with an ice-cold drink in hand from the lounge.
From game drives at dawn to campfire storytelling under the stars, Ila's best gifts to you are the unforgettable moments that fulfil your dream safari adventures. Keeping with the theme of eco-friendly accommodation and activities, the game drives are led in e-Cruisers that are fully electric and offer a near-silent game drive. The vehicles are charged on the solar farms at the main camp, and they are the first of their kind in Zambia. The solar-powered e-Boat also awaits, ready to glide you across the Kafue River in style.
Found in the centre of western Zambia, Kafue National Park is the oldest and largest of Zambia’s national parks. It covers a massive 22,400 km2. First established as a National Park in the 1950’s by the legendary Norman Carr, Kafue is one of the largest national parks in the whole of Africa. Despite its size and prominent location only two hours drive from Livingstone, it remains little-known and largely unexplored with vast tracts of its virgin bush still untouched. Thanks to its size and variety of habitat types the Kafue holds a fantastic diversity of wildlife.
In recent years the Park has seen a well-managed growth in the number of Safari Camps and Lodges that operate in and around the Park. This new interest has brought with it more visitors and investment to the area, notably in infrastructure with a number of well-graded roads and airstrips. As a consequence of the increasing interest and benefits in terms of investment this brings, the wildlife is beginning to enjoy an increased level of protection by the Zambian Wildlife Authority (ZAWA), always aided and supported by the operators in and adjoining the park.
