Sanbona Explorer Camp is a unique walking experience is ideal for guests looking for an adventurous and authentic option offering an ambiance of a tented bush camp. The camp is located in a superbly shaded river line, north east of the reserve and approximately 30 minute drive from Dwyka Tented Lodge.
This is a flexible experience for guests to experience and explore the Sanbona Karoo as we believe that the rigidity of travel needs to be simplified by going back to basics.
This explorer camp reflects the original safari of being on foot and sleeping around the fire at night within the comfort of a mobile tent.

Sanbona offers the Big Five and has the only free-roaming self-sustaining white lions in the world. The reserve is home to a variety of large and small antelope, zebra, and wildebeest; and small game such as jackal, caracal, aardwolf, and hyena are present in the reserve. It is also home to the critically endangered and highly elusive Riverine Rabbit and the Dwarf Blue butterfly, the second smallest butterfly in the world
Experience a huge diversity of indigenous flora and fauna and rare examples of San rock art, some dating back more than 3, 500 years, plus a unique boat safari and thrilling game drives.
