Home to abundant bird-life, shy antelope, endangered butterflies and pristine fynbos. Alkira Lodge is situated above the popular tourist town of Knysna, in a private nature conservancy, on the Western brow of the famous Knysna Heads.

All of our rooms are en-suite and have a private patio and unique views. They are individually decorated with modern, clean lines and sumptuous soft furnishings. The interiors are designed to complement the lodge natural setting and to add to the harmonious connection with the natural world outside and views from each room. All rooms feature: Pure, clean, natural fresh air, Free Wi-Fi, Safety Deposit Box, Tea/coffee making facilities, Heating, Cooling fans, Bathrobe, Free toiletries, En-suite bathroom with walk in shower and toilet, Hair dryer, USB, International adapters. A fresh breakfast is included on a daily basis to guests without extra charge. Dinner is available as an optional extra.

Lakeview Apartment
Our 2 Lakeview Rooms can be booked individually or together to make a private apartment perfect for 4 people travelling together. Each of the 2 bedrooms features an en-suite bathroom with walk-in shower, private patio and water views. The Apartment is stylishly decorated and the shared lounge area includes a large TV, well equipped kitchenette, dining area and large glass doors that slide away to a patio with outside dining and garden and views across to the ocean, lagoon and mountains beyond.

About Knysna

Knysna is one of the Garden Route’s best known travel destinations and is an excellent stop-over whilst touring the area. This buzzing and interesting town is a popular holiday destination throughout the year for both tourists and locals alike. Located in the Western Cape province of South Africa, Knysna is a vibrant town throughout the year.

Knysna’s indigenous forests, fynbos, lakes, rivers and mountains, combined with a temperate climate, makes this area a natural Garden of Eden. As a little known fact, the indigenous forest consists of the largest complex of closed-canopy forest in Southern Africa.

The estuary known as the National Lake Area, is managed and protected by the South African National Parks board (SANParks). A biologically rich and fascinating area that is home to over 200 species of fish, the Pansy shell and the endangered Knysna Seahorse.
