Overview

Pafuri Tented Camp is situated between the Limpopo and the Luvuvhu Rivers in the northern sector of the Kruger National Park, in a 24 000-hectare area called the Pafuri or the Makuleke. This area is the ancestral home of the Makuleke people and is one of the most diverse and scenically attractive areas in the Kruger National Park.

This area is certainly the wildest and most remote part of the Park and offers varied vegetation, great game viewing, the best birding in all of the Kruger, and is filled with folklore of the early explorers and ancient civilisations. It is well known for its fever tree forests, beautiful gorges and Crook’s Corner, where the Limpopo and Luvuvhu rivers and three countries, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Mozambique, meet. The region is considered one of Kruger's biodiversity hotspots, with some of the largest herds of elephant and buffalo, leopard and lion and incredibly prolific birdlife.

Good to Know

This far north Pafuri area is one of the few true wilderness areas left in South Africa. However, it would not be an ideal destination for first time visitors looking for a Big 5 Safari, as you are unlikely to see the Cats
The birding is excellent, and you are likely to see large herds of elephant & buffalo

Day 1

Light aircraft flight departing Hoedspruit Airport at 14:00
On arrival at Pafuri Airstrip at 14:45, you will be met by your guide who will transfer you to Pafuri Camp

Day 2 - 3

After your morning activity and breakfast, you will be transferred to the Pafuri Airstrip for your light aircraft flight, departing at 11:45, to arrive Hoedspruit Airport at 12:30

Important Notes

SANParks Gate Entrance Fees must be settled directly at the gate on entry into the park
Please ensure you enter the park at least one hour prior to the gate closing
Opening hours vary depending on the time of year. Please be sure to check.
1. All visitors who are 18 years and older, must produce a positive identity document for scanning in order to gain access to the Kruger National Park:
2. SA Residents must produce their SA ID document or Driver's Licence.
3. Non SA Residents must produce their passports.
A Makuleke Concession Conservation levy of R 300 per adult per stay and R 150 per child per stay is applicable to all reservations
