Tanda Tula Field Camp in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve brings the elegance of old-time living to the basics of nature and safaris. The camp exudes a “leave no trace” ethos with seasonal accommodation and a focus on walking safaris, helping guests get close to the wilderness without encroaching on it.
In the heart of a nature reserve forming part of the greater Kruger, this authentic and luxurious safari experience is designed to inspire and connect those with a yearning to explore. Astounding concentrations of Africa’s renowned game traverse through the camp, and highly experienced guides and trackers will lead you on walking safaris, just as the early explorers did. Game drive vehicles are also readily available.
The camp’s four explorer tents, accommodating eight guests, are set up and taken down for each safari—locations varying slightly depending on seasons and game activities. This low impact on the environment is accentuated with oil and solar lanterns instead of electricity. Each tent has its own outdoor bathroom with hot shower. With a private guide, chef, camp host, and camp staff, this custom safari is yours to embrace.
Field Camp is solely for private use and is pitched specifically for each booking based on the requirements of
our guests. Please advise our team of any special requests when booking. A mobile-style camp. The main tent features a field bar and dining facilities, the en-suite tents offer composting toilets, electricity-free (solar powered lanterns). Total exclusivity with a private specialised walking guide, tracker and 4x4 vehicle (guests must be walking fit and should be able to manage a 10-mile walk).
Timbavati Nature Reserve shares a common unfenced border with the Kruger National Park allowing animals free range and ensuring guests to the area the opportunity to view the greatest diversity of wildlife that Africa has to offer. View the big game from open vehicles, on foot or from the comfort of your room as you experience timeless Africa.
Escape from the grind of daily life and succumb to the tranquil wilderness of the Timbavati Nature Reserve in the South African Lowveld. Here you can view the Big Five and other endangered species such as the Wild Dog and Cheetah in their natural environment.
