This historic, private, self-catering Villa offers relaxing country lodgings at its best. Accommodating 6 people in comfort is perfect for a family or group of friends who wish to experience a great Cape Winelands stay. The villa was originally the main farmhouse for Clermont and dates back to 1862. The decor exudes old Cape farmhouse charm while offering luxurious comfort. The Villa has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms on the ground floor. Upstairs there is a spacious loft bedroom with air conditioning and en suite bathroom. Please note that the loft is accessed via an external staircase which may not be suitable for small children on their own. The fully equipped kitchen and in- & outside dining areas make for memorable mealtimes. With spectacular views from the large, covered terrace and large private pool, you won’t want to leave.

The historic Clermont is nestled in the heart of the valley of the Huguenots, just a kilometre from the centre of the village of Franschhoek. The wonderful valley of the Huguenots is scenically magnificent. The main road is lined with dozens of restaurants, art galleries and speciality shops, all within easy walking distance of Clermont. The wine estates of the valley produce some of the country’s best vintages, and the superb standard of cuisine in the village has earned it the title of “the gourmet capital of South Africa”.

Auberge Clermont has a tennis court, sparkling pools overlooking vineyards and plum orchards. Take a leisurely walk through the vines and along the oak-lined river.

Clermont offers guests the chance to stay close to the centre of Franschhoek yet still experience life on a working farm and vineyard. Take time to try our delightful wines or sample our award-winning olive oil from the Franschhoek Olive Oil company.

Clermont is a working farm consisting of vineyards, plum orchards and an olive grove. The farm is nearly 10 hectares in size, the majority of which is a vineyard.

The vineyards consist of various plantings, notably Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz and Merlot. Our vines range in age with the oldest being over 30 years old and maintaining a great balance in terms of growth and yield. A high canopy protects the grapes from sunburn and ecologically sensitive farming methods are used to ensure a minimal impact on our environment.

The plum orchard produces delicious Laetitia and Sungold plums of export-quality that find their way to the markets of Europe. The plum season starts with the beautiful blossoms appearing in early spring that is a sight to behold, before growing and being harvested usually around January and February.
