About the Soutpansberg

Located in northern Limpopo, bordering Botswana and Zimbabwe, the Soutpansberg Vhembe Region is a land of breathtaking landscapes, ancient legends, and rich biodiversity. Towering baobab trees stand resilient amid vast expanses of Indigenous bush, while the region’s deep cultural roots, tied to the vhaVenda people, add an air of mystery to this spectacular wilderness.

The Soutpansberg mountain range stretches 130 km from Vivo in the west to Kruger National Park in the east. It forms part of the UNESCO Vhembe Biosphere Reserve, a treasure trove of untamed beauty, diverse ecosystems, and protected nature reserves. To the west, the craggy peaks of the Soutpansberg, or ‘Salt Pan Mountain,’ rise dramatically above the landscape.
