Machangulo Beach Lodge is perfectly situated at the centre of the channel between Inhaca Island and the dunes of the Santa Maria Peninsula. This untamed and untouched, Southern Mozambican coastline plays host to a unique battle between the open Indian Ocean and the estuaries of Maputo Bay.
Tucked away between dunes and forests this beach lodge offers guests a warm and inviting atmosphere. The main area features a large lounge with a stocked bar and dining area. Behind the main building, you will find a Boma area where guests spend their evenings while enjoying tranquil Mozambican nights. The beach bar, pool and deck are situated near the beach.
Machangulo Beach Lodge boasts 9 Ocean View Rooms. All chalets offer an en-suite bathroom, air-conditioning, mosquito nets and a private deck. All the chalets are connected by walkways and staircases to the main buildings and the beach.
The Lodge fleet consists of two modern and safe powerboats and a variety of smaller craft. Some of the activities are tide and weather dependant. Activities on offer are fishing, snorkeling, scuba diving, cultural tours, turtle and whale watching, kids rock pool and nature walks. All guided, specialist and motorized activities are at an additional cost.
Geographically, Mozambique covers an area of over 800,000 sq. km, three times the size of Great Britain. Situated to the south east of the African continent, it shares borders with six other countries, Tanzania, Malawi and Zambia to the north, Zimbabwe to the west, South Africa and Swaziland to the south. The 2,500 km long coastline boasts numerous superb beaches fringed by lagoons, coral reefs and strings of small islands.
The Geography of Mozambique apprises a vast, low, grassland plateau which rises from the coast towards the mountains in the north and west covers nearly half the country's land area. The population is concentrated along the coast and the fertile river valleys. The Zambezi is the largest of the country's 25 rivers. Mozambique is rich in mineral resources such as gold, emeralds, copper, iron ore and bauxite and is currently engaged in oil exploration.

10-minute drive from Maputo Airport to the Marina, followed by a 1-hour speedboat transfer to the Lodge.
Guests driving from Maputo to Machangulo through the Elephant Reserve, will require a 4x4 vehicle. This drive can take up to 4-hours. Guests will park their vehicles close to Santa Maria Village, Bemugi's place. Parking is charged at R 50 per day. Guests are then transferred to the lodge by boat which takes approximately 10-minutes.
