    Overview

This eclectic safari lodge, fully upgraded during 2018 and 2019 with entirely remodelled public areas and gardens, has been converted from an old coffee store to create a breathtakingly beautiful space. The lodge is located on the edge of Queen Elizabeth National Park with sweeping views of the rolling savanna, the distant mountains of the moon, and the sunken Kyambura Gorge.

The stylish bandas also have a contemporary theme with the accent on local artefacts re-imagined in a new context. Each banda offers a unique view either across the savanna or the gorge. 4 Deluxe Bandas are also available. The swimming pool has been redesigned and upgraded. A new spa has been launched and offers guests rejuvenating treatments coupled with great views.

The lodge is the ideal location for tracking the lost chimps in the sunken forest of Kyambura Gorge nearby and seeing the amazing game in one of Africa’s most beautiful and varied parks, centred around the waterway of the Kazinga Channel where animals come to bathe. The park has six hundred amazing bird species, the highest in an African park.

The Kyambura Gorge Eco-tourism project was launched in February 2019, a series of community and conservation activities developed since 2009 to safeguard the Kyambura Gorge ecosystem.

New walking safaris have been created around the lodge to experience the dramatic landscapes of Kyambura gorge and the Queen Elizabeth savannah, and visit a reclaimed wetland. Guests can walk along the Kyambura gorge buffer zone we have created to protect the fragile ecosystem from encroachment and contribute to its long-term conservation project by planting a seedling. and conservation activities developed since 2009 to safeguard the Kyambura Gorge ecosystem.

About the Queen Elizabeth National Park

Visitors will find it hard to believe that Queen Elizabeth National Park was ravaged by war some decades ago. Uganda’s best-loved park has bounced back from its turbulent history and is now the country’s most visited park. The park is home to tree-climbing lions, 600 species of birds, and a magnificent landscape of acacia woodland, savannah, and swamps dotted by crater lakes, cones, and other volcanic features.

Under 400km from Uganda’s capital and largest city, Kampala, Queen Elizabeth National Park’s boundaries protect a plethora of wildlife sure to make every safari-goer’s dreams come true. The lakeshore is dotted with pink-backed pelicans and wallowing hippos, while elephants and leopards wander along the forest grassland. The park’s Ishasha plains see unaware Ugandan kob grazing near fig trees in which tree-climbing lions wait ready to pounce.

Game drives and scenic nature walks are the order of the day, while boat cruises along Lake Edward will bring eager visitors even closer to the park’s thirsty and water-dwelling inhabitants. Queen Elizabeth’s volcanic terrain is a photographer’s delight, while birders won’t know where to look. Visitors can reach the park by road from Kampala or by flying to Kasese Airport or the park’s airstrip.
