Only four hours’ drive from Cape Town along the scenic Route 62, Sanbona encompasses 54 000 hectares of rugged mountains and vast plains. Sanbona is home to an impressive variety of plants, birds, and wildlife, including the rare white lions.
Sanbona Gondwana Family Lodge boasts six suites on the ground floor and six suites on the upper level. Each Luxury Suite features a king-size bed or twin beds, en-suite bathroom with double vanities, bathtub, and shower; air conditioning, under floor heating, minibar, tea & coffee making facilities, in-room safe, and private deck, or balcony. The suites can accommodate two adults and one child, subject to the availability of rooms with sleeper couches.
The lodge facilities include a lounge with fireplace and television with satellite tv, outdoor boma, swimming pool, gift boutique, children's playroom with television, relaxation retreat with steam room outdoor play area, and Wi-Fi.
Experienced guides accompany guests on early morning and evening open-vehicle game drives, as well as bush walks that afford guests the opportunity of exploring the fauna, flora, and smaller wondrous creatures of the African bush. There are numerous rock art sites that date back more than 3 500 years, depicting the spiritual beliefs and lives of the fascinating San.
Gondwana Family Lodge offers numerous facilities and activities geared specifically for a family safari. Children can participate in the ‘Kids on Safari’ programme or use the well-equipped playroom and outdoor play area. A variety of indoor and outdoor activities are offered by the ‘Kids on Safari’ programme, including an interpretive trail through the garden of Gondwana, and visits to San rock art sites after which children can create their own rock art. Children can participate in bead and clay making activities, run around the playground, learn about the stars, and learn more about wildlife conservation. All activities are supervised.

It is also home to the critically endangered and highly elusive Riverine Rabbit and the Dwarf Blue butterfly, the second smallest butterfly in the world.
