Sausage Tree camp is the epitome of bush chic offering a luxurious approach to a true bush experience with lavish attention to detail and specializes in the very best game viewing with the highest international standards in service.
The camp sleeps up to 18 guests in well-appointed luxury suites. Those seeking a private experience can book the Kigelia House which offers two en-suite bedrooms with an open plan living area which leads onto a private deck with a swimming pool. The seven Luxury Suites offer a spacious island of cool minimalist style serviced by a Muchinda also known as a private butler. The suites offer a unique open-air shower, a large deck with a private plunge pool & lounge area, a minibar with leather sofas and magnificent views.
The accommodation was completely rebuilt in 2018 to offer the best of standards. These suites are generously spaced along the Zambezi River bank allowing the elephants to amble in between. Each safari tent boasts massive gauze windows and sliding doors allowing cooling breezes to move through. Nearly hidden from one another, and shaded by mature Sausage and Mahogany trees, the tents are cool, private sanctuaries to return to for an afternoon siesta or good nights rest.
The main areas offer sweeping views over the Zambezi River, comfortable seating, bar and a 25m lap pool. Meals are taken at the main area and of course, a sundowner on the deck is the perfect way to end to a great day.
Guests can enjoy some of the finest game viewings in natural habitats anywhere in Africa. It's a superb location within the Lower Zambezi National Park along the Zambezi River means that game viewing activities take place both on the water, and on land. Whether you want to explore the region by boat, vehicle or foot, you will not be disappointed. The camp is well equipped with game viewing vehicles, boats and canoes allowing the lodge to easily cater to the personal and individual needs of all guests.
Each guide at Sausage Tree Camp is extremely knowledgeable and boasts a multitude of experiences. All guides are fully trained, licensed and have many years of experience, ensuring that the highest quality of guiding and safety standards are achieved.
Come to a place where animals roam the unfenced safari camps, where Africa’s most unspoilt nature stretches out in front of you, where traces of people are hard to find and where nighttime is about sitting under an incredibly black sky, dotted with countless stars. Welcome to Zambia's Lower Zambezi National Park.
It is the draw-card of Lower Zambezi: the remoteness of this eastern part of Zambia. The Lower Zambezi National Park, founded in 1983, covers an area of 4,092 square kilometres along the northwestern bank of the Zambezi River. Step onboard on a boat or drift silently past the riverbank in a canoe for the best wildlife viewing, since most wildlife is concentrated around the Lower Zambezi Valley and the river. Elephant herds, sometimes up to one hundred strong, hippo, leopard, lion, buffalo, over 400 bird species – they all gather in this mesmerizing wilderness.
Lower Zambezi has a wide range of accommodation options, so start browsing our list of Lower Zambezi safari lodges. You might have some trouble choosing between all these beautiful destinations but just remember: stunning views, excellent bush cuisine and warm hospitality are the standards in Zambia, so you will find that everywhere.
