The Chindeni Bushcamp is situated in an enviable location on the edge of a lagoon where hippo chortle and elephant wallow. This is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful tented camps in South Luangwa.
Sleeping under your canvas tents will ignite a sense of adventure in you. Chindeni combines the thrill of adventure with style and comfort. Each of the opulent tents offers a private veranda set on the lagoon which attracts birds and animals from miles around. After a long day of exciting activities sit back with a gin-and-tonic in the central lounge and dining area. The main area is a glorious expanse of varnished decking arranged on several levels around the surrounding ebony trees, boasting, the same spectacular view of the serene lagoon and its inhabitants.
The accommodation features stripped wooden floors, four-poster beds, cosy sitting rooms, en suite bathrooms and vaulted canvas ceilings. Chindeni's spacious tents are so inviting you could be forgiven for never wanting to leave your room. You will never experience a dull moment at Chindeni as you can see so much wildlife just by stepping onto your own private deck jutting out over the lagoon. Two of the tents have twin beds (queen-sized beds), while the other two each have a king bed. Chindeni is open from May to December.
Whether you are in the mood for intrepid exploration or perhaps some more sedentary wildlife viewing, Chindeni will deliver. Wildlife and game enthusiasts can set out on superb walking safaris, day and night game drives, scenic sundowner trips in the surrounding area. If you are looking for a simpler approach to exploring you can just park yourself in a deckchair at camp and watch the abundance of game that is drawn to the lagoon.
South Luangwa National Park is the highlight of eastern Zambia. Known to locals as simply 'the South Park,' it was initially founded as the Luangwa Game Park in 1904, and converted to one of three game reserves in 1938. The impressive park covers an area of about 9050 square kilometres of the Luangwa Valley floor and lies anywhere from 500 meters to 800 meters above sea level. With its western and northwestern edge bounded by the Muchinga Escarpment and the southern borderline with the meandering Luangwa River, there's no shortage of dramatic and fascinating topography in this stunning game-rich park.
