Dinaka is located in an exclusive private conservancy on the edge of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. Host to one of the most unique bio-diversities in Southern Africa, Dinaka is an ever-changing destination. This desert landscape gives refuge to the Kalahari lion, springbok, Oryx and brown hyena.
The accommodation includes seven spacious twin and double-bedded safari tents, featuring an en-suite bathroom that has an indoor and outdoor shower, hot and cold running water and flush toilet. Families at Dinaka are accommodated in a two-bedroom tent, sharing a spacious en-suite bathroom. Each tent is raised up on wooden decks providing the perfect vantage point over a permanent water hole. All tents are linked by wooden walkways making the camp wheelchair friendly.
The annual rains within this region transforms the desert landscape into a lush profusion of Kalahari vegetation, offering guests a unique insight into the lesser-known desert experience.
For couples, the ultra-romantic Sleep Out Deck offers beautiful panoramic views with wildlife sighting opportunities.
The camp is situated alongside the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, and the activities available are the best way to explore this vast area. Guests can spot giraffes, antelope, small mammals such as honey badgers, bat-eared foxes and porcupines. The predators in the area include the Kalahari lion, cheetah, leopard and brown hyena.
Guests can enjoy morning and afternoon game drives in open safari vehicles, with afternoon game drives often continuing into the evening. The vehicles accommodate no more than four guests when out on game drives. Alternatively, you can get up close and personal with nature on foot with guided bush walks. Birding is particularly spectacular as Dinaka hosts over 200 different bird species including the Kori Bustard and Crimson Breasted Shrike and a high concentration of Pale Chanting Goshawks.
Dinaka, meaning “horns”, is a private reserve located on the northern boundary of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. The reserve offers an educational walk with San Bushmen in addition to day and night game drives. Year-round water holes result in spectacular photographic opportunities either from the underground bunker, hide or vehicle. The perfect contrast to a stay in the Okavango Delta, with an added hidden treasure!
