Khwai Lediba is a luxury tented safari camp set along the banks of the Khwai River within the Khwai region of Botswana. Accommodating up to 16 guests, Khwai Lediba features beautifully appointed tents that are environmentally friendly and equipped with modern furnishings and amenities. Boasting 6 double tents and a family unit, offering an en-suite bathroom with indoor and outdoor showers, a private deck, luxurious bedding and more.
The main area offers a pool, a dining area with an open-plan kitchen and a bar with a beautiful sunken lounge. Enjoy sublime meals, cocktails and bubbly indoors or al fresco on a deck surrounded by sycamore and leadwood trees with stunning views across the river.
Khwai Lediba is situated near the Moremi National Park and offers guests a front-row seat to the wildlife action of the oldest protected section of the Okavango Delta, known for its diverse wildlife population, including lions, leopards, elephants, giraffes, and more. Guests can enjoy the sights of Botswana with activities such as morning, afternoon, and night game drives, walking and mokoro safaris (depending on water levels). The camp also offers the opportunity to visit the nearby Khwai village preschool as part of the African Bush Camps Foundation's community empowerment projects.
The 1800 km² large Khwai Concession is situated right next to the Moremi Game Reserve. Formerly a hunting concession it is today administered by the local community as a recreational area. It's name is derived from the Khwai River, the northern “finger” of the mighty Okavango Delta, which forms the most important source of life in the region. The Khwai Community is a good example of eco-tourism as all income generated is received by the local community.
The area is dominated by grasslands, permanent flood plains and large areas of Mopane forests. Large herds of elephants take their bath next to hippos, whilst being watched by lechwe antelopes. Photogenic leopards, spotted hyenas and large packs of wild dogs will make the heart of any wildlife lover beat faster. Every now and then prides of lions can be seen. There are of course also uncountable bird species, especially egrets, cranes, vultures, and different species of eagles, specialising in catching catfish.
