Kwafubesi Tented Safari Camp is tucked away in the teeming savanna plains within an acacia-dotted bushveld situated in the Greater Mabula Private Game Reserve. This small and intimate, rustic bush camp boasts five tents. Perfect for those seeking a glamping experience in the bush.
Each tent comprises of a toilet, washbasin, large stone bath and shower with running hot and cold water and towel racks with soft fluffy towels. The bedroom offers double or twin beds with nightstands, fans and electric blankets for those chilly wintry nights. There is a hanging cupboard with shelves and a table providing coffee and tea making facilities. Along the canvas walls, there are outlets for charging camera equipment and mobile phones.
The main area boasts an open guest lounge, set in the heart of the bushveld. This area boasts a fully-stocked bar and restaurant with expansive views over the savannah plains. A crystal clear splash pool with deck chairs allows for both relaxation and a cool respite from the daytime heat, while an open fireplace and separate boma warms chilly winter nights and gives guests the opportunity to relax as the day draws to a close.
Kwafubesi Tented Safari Camp guests are able to enjoy the benefits of a soothing massage, or opt for a range of beauty treatments at the Mabula Spa. These qualified therapists offer a variety of relaxing treatments ranging from Swedish to Aromatherapy, Hot Stone to Fusion massages to revitalise and indulge the body and mind.
Additional facilities, such as a full spa, curio shop, tennis courts and kids wild zone may be found at Mabula Game Lodge. Kwafubesi guests are also invited to make use of the complimentary Wi-Fi at the main lodge.
Only two short hours’ drive north of Johannesburg in the beautiful Waterberg lies the African wonder that is Mabula Private Game Reserve. This 12,000-hectare of the malaria-free reserve is home to an abundance of wildlife and birdlife, including the world-famous Big Five.
Mabula is split by a service road to the South which creates two separate sections of the Mabula Private Game Reserve. In the South, there is the Madjuma section which is about 3500-hectares and is host to a phenomenal pride of Lion. This section of the reserve carries all species with the exception of Elephant, Cheetah, and Buffalo. Guests cross through a tunnel under the service road to connect between the two sections of the reserve.
The Northern territories carry all species with the exception of Lion which has allowed us to reintroduce Cheetah into this reserve. These cheetahs are thriving, and we were delighted to welcome the birth of four cubs in January 2015 which hails the first free-roaming cheetah in this area in almost fifty years.
Home to some 60 mammals, 300 bird species, 100 plant types, and numerous reptile and insect species, at Mabula Game Reserve, all natures' wonders are revered. This is the Heartland of the South African Safari experience.
