Makanyi Lodge itself provides a graceful yet unobtrusive sanctuary of calm that goes a long way to rival the enchantment of the bush which embraces it.  Seven enormous suites and one sumptuous family suite blend seamlessly into their environment and offer the space and time to fully unwind; be that by relaxing on your suite’s deck with panoramic views of the bush and our active dam, curling up before a roaring fire in the evening chill or soaking up the aura in a glorious pedestal bath.

Throughout your stay, your comfort and pleasure are our priority, which is why we strive to ensure that every detail is just right both indoors and outdoors. From every aspect of your suite to your food, drinks, and your game drives, here at Makanyi quality and service are our watchwords.

Every one of our seven suites overlooks the magnificent dam and comes with an extra-large bed, a relaxing sitting area with its own gas fireplace, a beautiful bathroom with a spacious shower, and separate bathtub, a private deck with loungers and an outdoor shower. Premium Healing Earth amenities, complimentary Wi-Fi, telephone, hairdryer, safe, mini bar, a Nespresso coffee machine and tea making facilities are found in every room.

Two of our seven rooms are luxury pool suites, they are located furthest from the main lodge and offer more privacy as well as a wonderful private plunge pool on the deck – ideal for a soak with a glass of champagne under a blanket of stars.

The Main Lodge is a perfect haven where you will find a superbly situated deck with stunning views of the dam, allowing you to unwind and watch amazing wildlife scenes unfold before your eyes. It is a lovely area to either relax on your own and take in the beauty of your surroundings or to socialise with others and share stories about your sightings.

The sun loungers around the pool are perfect for sunbathing with a cocktail, whilst our cosy loft serves as a quiet place to read or have our guest photographic specialist assist you with editing your photos from your morning or evening safari. In the main area, there are large comfortable sofas to enjoy or sit around our boma fire to keep warm on a chilling evening listening to the sounds of the night. Alternatively, mingle with other guests at the bar where our barman are ready to prepare you your favourite drink and share stories of your day’s sightings.

About Timbavati Private Nature Reserve

Timbavati Nature Reserve shares a common unfenced border with the Kruger National Park allowing animals free-range and ensuring guests to the area the opportunity to view the greatest diversity of wildlife that Africa has to offer. View the big game from open vehicles, on foot or from the comfort of your room as you experience timeless Africa. Escape from the grind of daily life and succumb to the tranquil wilderness of the Timbavati Nature Reserve in the South African Lowveld. Here you can view the Big Five and other endangered species such as the Wild Dog and Cheetah in their natural environment. Currently, over 40 mammal species are listed as resident in the Timbavati, including the Big 5 - Lion, Leopard, Rhino, Buffalo and Elephant, as well as endangered species including Wild Dogs and Cheetah.  There is an abundance of birdlife, with a total of 360 species of bird listed.
