Mashatu Euphorbia Villas is situated within a unique wildlife area in Botswana, which is host to some of the finest predator viewing on the continent. This new eco-camp is set to leave a lasting impression on any guest. These villas are the new flagship camp of the Northern Tuli Game Reserve and is situated in the privately owned, baobab-studded, Mashatu Game Reserve. The Euphorbia Forest is a breath-taking hideaway, perched on the edge of a cliff face, and opens to reveal exquisite vistas overlooking the Majale river and endless, rolling plains below.
This is an intimate camp featuring 8 eco-friendly villas. Each villa sleeps two guests and strikes a balance between luxury and sustainability. This region experiences very little rainfall and therefore solar energy is utilised, along with a state-of-the-art water treatment and recycling system.
As you enter the camp you will experience the famous Mashatu welcome leading to your personal villa. The curves and shape of the villas draw inspiration from the local Mopane tree’s pod, its significance evident as the main food source for many animals, predominantly during the dry months of the year. The villas exude an earthy glamour, boasting solar-heated, private plunge pools, indoor and outdoor showers, a primary WC and a second ‘loo with a view,’ all while giving guests that feeling of the ultimate escape.
One of the reasons why Mashatu Euphorbia Villas is one of our favourites is because only 4 guests are permitted on the safari vehicle. This means guests can enjoy uninterrupted sightings in spacious vehicles while exploring this 31,000-hectare wildlife paradise.
Guests are treated to an exquisite and dramatic dining experience each evening with firey bomas and euphorbias under the African sky. With a maximum of 16 guests, an intimate ambience is created, where engaging and attentive staff are on hand to ensure this is a safari of a lifetime.
Mashatu Euphorbia Villas is the perfect camp to live out adventure on a mountain bike, walking, horseback riding or in an underground photographic hide while returning each evening to an aura of natural elegance and comfort.
Mashatu Game Reserve is situated at the confluence of the great Limpopo and Shashe Rivers in the remote eastern corner of Botswana. This area is known historically as the Tuli Enclave and it is here where the three countries; Botswana, South Africa and Zimbabwe converge. In addition to this large conservation area, Mashatu Game Reserve offers refuge to the largest elephant population on a private reserve on the African continent.
The most commonly used entry point for visitors to Mashatu Game Reserve is through the Pont Drift Border Post between South Africa and Botswana, and the Limpopo Valley Airfield on Mashatu.
Please note that officials at both the South African and Botswana customs and immigration offices strictly enforce the Pont Drift Border Post operating times which are to open at 8.00 am and to close at 4.00 pm. Road transfers from Polokwane to Mashatu Game Reserve take approximately 2 hours.
