Sussi & Chuma, a Sanctuary Retreats property is built on a dramatic bend of the Zambezi River in the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park, just twelve kilometres upstream from the world-famous Victoria Falls.
The lodge is named after Dr. David Livingstone's faithful friends Sussi and Chuma, the lodge is located in one of the most beautiful parts of the Zambezi amidst Jackalberry trees and Phoenix palms, providing unrivalled views and exclusivity. The accommodation offering includes twelve Sussi tree-houses, connected by wooden walkways. There are also two private Chuma houses, each with two bedrooms.
The Sussi Tree-Houses
Each Sussi Tree-House is built into a canopy of majestic ebony trees lining the river bank. These air-conditioned rooms feature their own private viewing deck boasting superb views over the white waters of the Zambezi. Enjoy a private dinner on your deck, while the sounds of the bush provide enchanting background music. The Sussi Tree-Houses allow children 6 years and above.
Spa Treatments
Guests staying at Sussi & Chuma are encouraged to relax and take in the spectacular views of the Zambezi River whilst enjoying a wide range of spa treatments including massages, facials and manicures. The stunning treatment room has been constructed on stilts situated on the riverbank, providing guests with up-close views of African wildlife while they are being pampered by a trained Africology spa therapist.
Dining with magnificent views
The main lodge is built on two levels, consisting of an elevated bar, lounge and open-air dining area, a curio shop and a refreshing swimming pool. Enjoy Full English and continental breakfasts every morning and a snack menu is available all day. The elegant shaded deck offers great birding opportunities across the river.
Activities
Game drives - Each drive is led by highly trained safari guides that take guests on game drives in custom-built 4 x 4 safari vehicles to experience the land.
Canoeing on the Zambezi - Enjoy a two hour canoeing excursion on the Zambezi River. The canoeing trip can either be done in the morning or afternoon, the activity will start from the lodge and can be combined with either a game drive or a boat cruise.
Tour of the Victoria Falls - Just a short drive away from the world-famous Victoria Falls, the lodge offers guests a walking tour of The Falls.
Local school & village tour - Nakatindi village is located six kilometres from Livingstone and five kilometres from Sanctuary Sussi & Chuma. Sanctuary Retreats Philanthropy has sponsored various projects aimed at improving education, conservation, health and enterprise in the village.
With an array of activities, Sussi & Chuma is a wonderful destination for adventure.

The Zambezi National Park is located upstream from Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, stretching for some 50 kilometres along the Zambezi river.
This beautiful gem of a National Park is little known, despite its proximity to the world-famous Victoria Falls.
Split off from the Victoria Falls National Park in 1979, the 56,000 hectares of pristine wilderness and wildlife habitat has been a National Park in its own right ever since.
The Park is bisected by a tar road that runs between Victoria Falls and the Kazangula border post, dividing it into two sections
