Tulela Safari Lodge is an exclusive-use safari lodge offering exceptional comfort and luxury to families and friends in a private location in the Greater Kruger Park. This thatched lodge is nestled in the shade of old indigenous trees that truly immerse the bedrooms and guest areas in tranquil nature.
Tulela Safari Lodge can host 10 guests in five luxurious bedrooms and has a spacious, central living area, which draws people together around the rim-flow swimming pool, fire pit, and experiential dining area. A fully furnished kitchen and easily accessible refreshments area complete the communal living and dining space, which flows onto the deck and makes the most of the view. The lodge features an “amphitheatre” that invites wildlife to drink at a waterhole positioned in full view of the lodge so that you can sit back, relax, and watch as nature’s stories unfold around you.
Tulela boasts five luxuriously appointed rooms, two of which have an interleading door and double as a family suite. Three are positioned overlooking the riverbed and two have a view of the waterhole. Each room leads into an en-suite bathroom with double vanity, indoor shower and bath tub, and an outdoor shower in a space shared by green plants with open sky and trees overhead.
The Riverbed Rooms
Nestled into the bank of the N’tsiri River, rooms three to five are positioned under a grand canopy of trees and provide guests with a near-eye-level vantage point of the perennial riverbed, which is frequented by animals visiting the lodge’s waterhole.
The Waterhole Rooms
Overlooking the “African amphitheatre”, the Waterhole Rooms (one and two) are situated in close proximity to the central living area and have an unrivalled outlook onto the lodge’s private waterhole. These two rooms have an interleading door and can double as a family suite.
Experiences
The Star Deck is designed to enthral and to elevate an experience in nature. Without compromising on comfort, it strips away the layers of four walls and places you in a soft cocoon as an offering to the indigo sky. There’s nothing like the twinkle of eternity to remind you of life’s possibilities and reset your path on Earth.
Conservation Project Involvement
Getting involved in conservation projects is one way to make an impact and guests have the opportunity to do so during their stay. Join a team of vets, pilots, and reserve managers on a rhino-dehorning operation, or work with experts to track and collar African wild dogs. Available at an additional cost and with prior notice.
Experiential Dining
Let Tulela Safari Lodge set up a special picnic at a perfect spot in the bush – under a huge jackalberry tree affectionately known as Big Jack. In an open clearing in the shade of this big, evergreen tree, a layout with a feast is provided with light a welcoming campfire. Enjoy champagne on ice, and have the chef cook up a sizzling breakfast spread.
Explore the Klaserie on foot
Get familiar with the bush and see tracks and signs in detail on an interpretive bush walk. Whether it’s a short child-friendly exploration along the riverbed with your guide and tracker, or a three-hour-long guided walking safari through the reserve, this immersive experience is a fantastic way to deepen your connection with the nature around you.
Kid-friendly itineraries
Kids activities are tailored to suit different seasons, children's ages and preferences, and can be personalised for guests' unique safari schedules. There is a range of activities catering for ages two to 16 that will suit those who are adventurous and curious about the bush, or those who like to engage their creative sides.
Unlimited Game Viewing
With the wind in your hair and the sun on your face, head out into the reserve with your guide and tracker on a private game drive. This iconic safari activity offers the chance to encounter the Big 5 in breath-taking ways, watching them from the comfort of custom-made game viewers.
The Klaserie Nature Reserve, (approximately 60 000 hectares), is part of the Greater Kruger National Park and open to the Kruger National Park and Timbavati Private Nature Reserve.
The private game Reserve lies along the western border of the Kruger National Park with no fencing separating the reserve from Kruger or the Timbavati, allowing the animals to roam freely between the Private Game Reserves and the Kruger Park. The game in both the Kruger Park and the neighbouring reserves is essentially the same, the difference being the experience of driving in open game viewers with a professional guide and that this area is known worldwide as the area where the white lion originate from. They are born in the wild and live in this area, so the gene pool of the white lion is carried within the lions of this area.
