An exclusive 5-star lodge, Savanna is situated in the internationally famous Sabi Sand Reserve within the greater Kruger National Park Conservancy. The internationally acclaimed lodge offers an exclusive, personalised and intimate safari experience to the guests, with a unique style of tented accommodation.
The lodge lies in an area where ‘Big 5’ sightings are so frequent, it is not unusual to see lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino in a single game drive. The specially designed game viewing vehicles and highly trained guides with a vast knowledge of the African bushveld, take guests on close and intimate encounters with a large variety of wildlife. Numerous nearby dams and a series of waterholes in front of the lodge attract many species, especially in the dry winter months when elephants are daily visitors.
The five-star luxury lodge offers nine exquisite suites. Seven of the suites have tented roofs, blending the elegance of a by-gone colonial era with all the convenience of modern facilities. Each suite offers guests private patios, plunge pools and outdoor showers, as well as air-conditioned interiors, minibars stocked with inviting treats, a coffee machine and décor that epitomises the elegance of understated luxury.
Our beautifully appointed suites nestle amongst indigenous bush and trees that provide privacy, quiet and a haven for birds. The epitome of elegance and comfort, the décor is a blend of colonial and classic with hand-crafted furniture, fine linen, and beautiful artwork. Three Executive and four Luxury Suites offer a unique ‘Out of Africa’ experience with canvas roofs above draped ceilings set on permanent structures. All have magnificent bathrooms and decks looking onto waterholes in the bush. All suites have private, heated plunge pools.
The thatched Savanna Suite is tailor-made for families, with two en-suite bedrooms on either side of a spacious, elegant lounge and large covered patio. The bedroom suites with their individual bathrooms, can also be booked separately, in which case they would not include the lounge, private vehicle, and guides which are part of the Savanna Suite package.
Relaxing in the comfort of the public lounge with its spacious patio, or at the main pool looking out over lush gardens and floodlit waterhole, our guests are frequently treated to fantastic views of birds and game drinking and bathing.
The loft above the lounge makes a pleasant nook for a quiet game of chess as well as a bird’s eye view of the waterhole, while an adjoining library provides wireless broadband internet access and offers guests the means to transfer digital photographs, freshly captured on their safari, onto CD or DVD.
Our fully-stocked wine cellar and bar ensure your thirst is always quenched. Enjoy a meal whilst sitting around our traditional Shangaan boma, and purchase a precious memento of your experience at our well-stocked curio shop.
Work up a sweat in our fully-equipped gym with the bush right at your doorstep, or enjoy an exquisite massage treatment in the privacy of your suite.
Enjoy an experience that is just a little different…
Adjacent to the world-renowned Kruger National Park, the Sabi Sand Game Reserve is famed for its intimate wildlife encounters, particularly leopard viewing. Home to a host of animals, including the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino), the Sabi Sand is part of a conservation area that covers over two million hectares (almost five million acres), an area equivalent to the state of New Jersey.
With no boundary fences between the Sabi Sand and the Kruger National Park, this reserve benefits from the great diversity of animals found in one of the richest wildlife areas on the African continent, along with the additional benefits experienced on a private game reserve.
Game drives traverse an area of 10 500 hectares (26 000 acres) and strict vehicle limits at sightings ensure the exclusivity of the game viewing experience. Sensitive off-road driving ensures that guests have the best possible view of any exceptional sighting and rangers are constantly in touch with each other to keep track of animal movements.
