Zungulila is a charming camp that embodies the essence of old Africa and a bygone era, with breathtaking views onto the Kapamba river and an expansive plain where natural springs attract huge herds of game.
Zungulila’s classic Meru tents are stylish and spacious and the ensuite bathrooms have outdoor showers and enormous bathtubs, allowing you to enjoy your creatures and your creature comfort! Across the camp, the immense views look over an impressive variety of wildlife, from thirsty elephant at the springs and flocks of birds on the river, to prowling lion and large herds of buffalo on the plains. You may just be tempted to stay forever.
If you long to explore Africa as it used to be, then come to Zungulila. Expert guides will lead you on foot through some of the park's most untouched wilderness, where large herds of buffalo roam and elephants drink along the river. Activities are focused around walking, but there are a number of driving loops in the area to travel further afield on game drives, day and night. In the evening, join your hosts for sundowners around the campfire before recounting the day's adventures over a starlit supper.
South Luangwa National Park is the highlight of eastern Zambia. Known to locals as simply 'the South Park,' it was initially founded as the Luangwa Game Park in 1904, and converted to one of three game reserves in 1938. The impressive park covers an area of about 9050 square kilometres of the Luangwa Valley floor and lies anywhere from 500 meters to 800 meters above sea level. With its western and northwestern edge bounded by the Muchinga Escarpment and the southern border line with the meandering Luangwa River, there's no shortage of dramatic and fascinating topography in this stunning game-rich park.
