The River Club offers a hassle-free and gratifying array of experiences for guests of all ages to enjoy.
The eleven spacious, private suites are individually set within the tree line along the edge of the magnificent Zambezi. From their elevated positions, the suites are perfectly situated to gaze across the river to the Zambezi National Park in Zimbabwe on the opposite bank, home to an array of wildlife and birds in an area of abundant natural beauty. Renowned for its spectacular views and romantic ambience, each suite looks west into the glorious African sunset, idyllically viewed from the privacy of the ball-and-claw bath.
Soaked in ambience and history, the lodge's main building is a well-appointed rebuilt 1940’s homestead with a comfortable lounge, dining room, and library complete with wrap-around veranda and gift shop. Meals are often enjoyed on the veranda, in the Gazebo, around the infinity pool or in the lush gardens beneath the trees. There are many alternatives for private dining making The River Club relaxed and easy for purposes of social distancing. A secluded deck above the river adds to the infinity pool area which seems part of the river itself. For the energetic, the croquet lawn, the gymnasium, walking/running trail and all-weather tennis court are perfect. A ‘Summerhouse’ and snooker room provide additional areas to enjoy. Beauty treatments are available in the Wellness Centre.
A host of activities await young and old, on-property as well as in the nearby area. Located only a short distance from the historic town of Livingstone and the renowned Victoria Falls, The River Club is the perfect retreat for families, friends, couples, honeymooners or those looking to complete a safari circuit in Southern or East Africa.
Activities available include tours of Victoria Falls on the Zambian side, sundowner cruises, tiger fishing, and visiting a nearby village, museum and market trips, scenic flights over the waterfall, Livingstone Island (where the famous seasonal Devils and Angels Pools are), white water rafting, bungee jumping, canoeing, quad biking and Segway rides. The area is steeped in local history and rich in wildlife; hippo and elephant are seen regularly and birdlife is prolific.
Zambia's most renowned tourist attraction and one of the most astonishing natural world wonders, Victoria Falls is an unsurpassed African destination for adventure, leisure and business. The hub of a great regional wildlife region, Victoria Falls is located centrally at the point where Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana and Namibia meet and makes regional get-togethers a breeze.
A 1,7km stretch of thunderous water tumbling over a sheer basalt cliff-face, Victoria Falls is one of the seven natural wonders of the world, and rates high on the list of ‘must experience’ destinations among travellers the world over. The friendly, bustling town of Livingstone is just a few minutes from the waterfall and the legendary Zambezi River. Victoria Falls is also an acclaimed World Heritage Site. Besides its natural beauty and the sheer marvel of the cascading thunderous sheets of water, it’s the unchallenged adventure capital of Africa with many varied and unique activities available.
There is something for everyone. Adrenalin junkies favour the famous 111m bunjee-jump, wild white-water rafting and gorge wire swings off the famous Railway Bridge spanning the gorge just below the waterfall. Those preferring quieter pursuits can enjoy river cruises, scenic flights over the Falls, Livingstone Island with its famous Angels and Devils Pools, Ele-Café boat ride, elephant interaction and unique meal, and a plethora of other activities.
Livingstone is also famed for its range of safari activities, elephant interactions, game drives, game walks, and canoeing. The highest falls water levels are March – through to May. During this period, the spray is heavy, so prepare for a drenching – part of the total Falls experience!
On The River, Club property enjoy the croquet lawn, the Summerhouse with its snooker room, the small gym, the self-guided nature trail, the tennis court, and the infinity swimming pool. You can also treat yourself to a massage (extra cost).
